Souriau’s quick release battery connector wins 2008 Autosport International “Best Product”
Souriau’s innovative quick release battery connector chosen as “Best Product” at the world’s largest motorsport exhibition
Interconnect specialist, Souriau’s new quick release battery connector solution has been awarded “Best Product” at the 2008 Autosport International exhibition. The technology, an industry first, eliminates damage to battery studs and dramatically speeds up battery change times. In addition, the battery can be replaced quickly without the need for any tools. “Souriau is delighted to have won this prestigious award,” says Mark Richardson, Souriau’s motorsport business manager. “This product provides a cost effective solution that is applicable to all levels of motorsport; from F1 to the weekend enthusiast.”
The product was conceived after working closely with a Le Mans-based constructor on solutions for endurance racing and is compatible with all M6 battery studs. A Souriau connector on the wiring loom is used to connect directly to the new interface facilitating rapid battery changes. The connector interface can even be removed when the battery has reached the end of its usable life and be reused.
“The product attracted attention at the show from F1, Touring car, GT and Endurance racing teams,” adds Richardson. “We expect to see these in race applications in the 2008 season.”
Souriau is now working with the battery manufacturer to develop further derivatives for the range of batteries. The new connectors will be available for purchase from Souriau’s approved distributors.
